Here is an octagonal barreled "Kentucky" rifle, which is in the style typical for the Ohio area in the mid 19th century. It looks to be in . 36" caliber, a very common size for these rifles, and has a heavy octagonal barrel with seven groove rifling. The rifle was built in the United States, most likely using a percussion trade lock. The lock plate is quite pitted from powder burn, so we cannot make out any markings
